Find out how much sleep they really need.If you’re worried, or think your baby could have a sinus infection, talk to your health visitor or GP. The skin around your baby's eyes may be more likely to look and feel puffy and tender to your touch, too. These conditions would cause other symptoms, such as sneezing with rhinitis, and stuffiness or a constant runny nose with sinusitis. A viral or bacterial infection in the sinuses (sinusitis) could also give your baby dark, swollen circles under their eyes. For example, allergies, such as rhinitis, could cause dark circles. Occasionally, dark circles around the eyes can be caused by other issues. Your baby may also rub their eyes when they're tired, making the sensitive skin around their eyes turn red. This will make the blood vessels underneath their skin look darker. If your baby is very tired, their complexion may look paler. Tiredness can make the dark circles stand out more too. If you have dark circles around your eyes, the chances are your baby will, too. This is called periorbital hyperpigmentation, and is more common in babies with brown or slack skin. Sometimes, dark circles under the eyes can be genetic or hereditary, and caused by lots of pigmentation, or colour, in the skin.
